The visit
The cape is a windswept, open place where the two seas meet in different shades of blue. Walk the clifftop path, look into the sea caves and enjoy the emptiness. It pairs well with a seafood stop in nearby Badouzi.
History and context
At Bitou Cape the East China Sea meets the Pacific. A clifftop trail passes a lighthouse, sea caves and old military tunnels above the water.
The cape was a military lookout for much of the 20th century, and old tunnels and gun positions still line the trail. Its lighthouse and fishing harbour now draw visitors rather than guarding the coast.
