The visit
Blueprint is a relaxed creative stop in a quiet part of Tainan. The wooden dormitories and design shops are the draw, along with the temporary exhibitions. It is a good break from temples and forts.
History and context
The park occupies a former Japanese naval dormitory complex. Its wooden buildings now host exhibitions, design shops and cultural events.
The wooden dormitories were built for Japanese naval personnel and later used by the Taiwanese military. After they fell into disuse, the site was restored as a creative park, keeping the layout and architecture of the old compound.
